Ensuring Safe and Healthy Environments for Our Community

What Are Establishment Permits?

Establishment permits are required for businesses and facilities that provide food, childcare, or other public services to ensure they meet health and safety standards. The Andrew County Health Department is responsible for issuing and monitoring these permits, helping to create a safer environment for residents and visitors.

Who Needs an Establishment Permit?

If you operate any of the following within Andrew County, you may need an establishment permit:

  • Food Establishments: Restaurants, cafes, food trucks, grocery stores, and catering services.
  • Childcare Facilities: Daycares, preschools, and other childcare providers.
  • Other Public Facilities: Businesses or venues that require health and safety inspections as part of their operations.

How to Apply for a Permit

  1. Complete the Application: Download the establishment permit application here or pick one up at our office during business hours.
  2. Submit Required Documents: Provide all necessary supporting documentation, such as facility plans or menus, as outlined in the application form.
  3. Schedule an Inspection: Once your application is received, a health inspector will contact you to schedule a site inspection.
  4. Pay the Permit Fee: Permit fees vary based on the type of establishment.
  5. Receive Your Permit: Upon successful completion of the inspection and approval of your application, you will be issued your establishment permit.

Annual Renewals

Establishment permits must be renewed annually. Renewal reminders will be sent to permit holders in advance, and inspections may be required as part of the renewal process.

Why Are Permits Important?

Health and safety regulations ensure that establishments operate in compliance with state and local laws, minimizing risks such as foodborne illnesses and other public health hazards. By obtaining a permit, you contribute to the well-being of our community.
