Recall Summary

Name of Product:  Kidde dual-sensor (photoelectric and ionization) smoke alarms – models PI2010 and PI901

Hazard: A yellow cap left on during the manufacturing process can cover one of the two smoke sensors and compromise the smoke alarm’s ability to detect smoke, posing a risk of consumers not being alerted to a fire in their home.

Remedy:  Replace

Consumers should remove the alarm from the wall/ceiling and visually inspect it through the opening on the side of the alarm for the presence of a yellow cap. Consumers should not attempt to take apart the alarm, open the casing, or otherwise remove the yellow cap themselves. If a yellow cap is present, the consumer should immediately contact Kidde to receive instructions and request a free replacement smoke alarm. They should remove and discard the recalled smoke alarm only after they receive and install the replacement alarm. If no yellow cap is present, consumers should reinstall the smoke alarm and no further action is needed.

Units: About 452,000 in the U.S. (In addition, about 40,000 were sold in Canada.)

Description:

This recall involves models PI2010 and PI9010 of Kidde dual sensor (photoelectric and ionization) smoke alarms. “KIDDE” is printed on the front center of the smoke alarm. The model number and date code are printed on the back of the alarm.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of the yellow protective cap being present on a smoke alarm before it was installed in a consumer’s home. No reports of incidents or injuries as a result of a yellow cap being present have been reported.

Sold At:  Menards, The Home Depot, Walmart and other department, home and hardware stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, ShopKidde.com and other websites from September 2016 through January 2018 for between $20 and $40.

Hazard: The bicycle helmets do not comply with the impact requirements of the federal safety standard for bicycle helmets, posing a risk of head injury.

This recall involves Dr. Brown’s Lovey pacifier & teether holders. The holders were sold in eight styles: Giraffe, Zebra, Turtle, Reindeer (Special Holiday Edition), Frog (Special Holiday Edition), Spring Bunny (Special Holiday Edition), Deer and Bunny. Only holders with the following lot codes are included in this recall: RICH0615; RICH0715; RICH0815; RICH1215; RICH0516; RICH0616; RICH0716; RICH1116; RICH1016; RICH0916; RICH1216; RICH0317; RICH0417; RICH0517; RICH0617; RICH0717; RICH0817; RICH0917. The lot codes are printed on the tag attached to the holder.  Consumers can confirm lot codes included in the recall at www.drbrownsbaby.com/recall-lovey.

Incidents/Injuries: TThe firm has received a total of 67 reports of the ribbon fraying and the snap detaching. No injuries have reported.

Name of Product: Playtime Pals Pop-Up Hideaway Hut children’s tents

Hazard: The fiberglass rod that supports the tent can break, splinter and become sharp, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

Remedy: Refund  

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tents and return them to Home Depot for a full refund or store credit.

This recall involves the Playtime Pals Pop-Up Hideaway Hut animal themed children’s tent. The tent has four animal themes: hippo (pink), dog (brown), shark (blue) and tiger (orange). All have a fiberglass rod that springs to deploy the tent to shape and provides the support for the nylon shell.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 270 reports of tent rods breaking, including two reports of bruises and lacerations.
