Mission Statement

To identify persons with disabilities, and to provide those persons, their parents and/or caregivers with the information and services needed to allow them to more actively participate in home, leisure, and work activities in their communities.

There must be a 1.5 standard deviation in 2 or more areas with the Vineland only county as one.

  • Cognitive Score must be 75 or below (INSTANT ELIGIBILITY)
  • Total Language (expressive, receptive, and combined)
  • Adaptive (Vineland)
  • Social/Emotional/Behavioral

The Sunshine Factory is a member of the MACDDS

Our funding programs:

  • Consumer cap of $2,500.00 for all funding services combined
  • Bus Transportation to and from places of employment, workshops, and/or day habilitation programs
  • Reimbursement for families who provide their own transportation to employment, workshops, and or day habilitation
  • Partnering with UCP and DMH to provide services to Andrew County Residents
  • Consumer Relations Services with a yearly cap of $1,200.00
  • Camp

Applications for Funding

Applications for consumer funding for the next year will be available at the Sunshine Factory office (106 North Fifth Street, Savannah Mo. 64485)  on October 1,  and completed applications are due back in the office by November 1 at  noon. The Board will meet the second Monday of November to determine eligibility and/or acceptance of the application. The Board will notify the consumer and/or parents/guardian of the outcome of the application by December 10 of the same year.


Will enter into a signed contract for services and/or funding that will begin January 1 and expire on December 31 of the next year. A signed contract must be received before December 31 in order for the consumer to begin receiving services and/or funding. If a signed contract is not received by January 15 of the funding year, the application is void rendering the consumer ineligible for funding until the following funding year.

Individual Caps

The Board will set an individual cap for funding for the following funding year by October 1. Applications will clearly state the individual cap available.

Inclement Weather Policy

While every effort is made to operate the Sunshine Factory's vehicles according to schedule, recognized weather conditions may cause operations of vehicles to be unsafe. The following guidelines apply:

  • The Sunshine Factory Vehicle service will be cancelled when Savannah R-3 School District is not in session.
  • The Sunshine Factory Vehicle service, at times may cancel transportation even though school is in session, this decision will be made at the discretion of the Director and/or the Chairperson of the Sunshine Factory Board.
  • Clients will receive an automated phone call notifying them of the cancellation.
